| BIOGRAPHY: |

It was during the summer of '95 that Emma, Tobias and Joel founded The Provenance when they decided to create an amalgam of Swedish Symphonic Rock and English Doom. A few months later, they were well into the realization of the massive soundscapes they performed and created to date. Around March '96, the first gigs were played in Gothenburg and soon thereafter the first demo was recorded at the Adrenalin Studios. Owing to the addition of a fourth member, Joachim, the sound got expanded, which was truly profitable for the next demo that was recorded in the autumn of '97. During the one-year recess that resulted of Emma's professional stay in France in '98, numerous compositions were made and recorded onto two more demos. That's also when the need for a bassist got stringent. In the spring of '99, it appeared as though Jonnie would be the chosen one. After the recording of the first full-length album (which they fully financed themselves) early 2000 in the Boiler Room Studios, The Provenance was offered the opportunity to sign a three-record deal with Scarlet Records. This is how the first official release "25th Hour; Bleeding" got recorded in 2001 and the band really felt that their experiment toward creating a majestic blend of sophisticated harmonies on pure head-banging structures had successfully led to this heavy, passionate, technical and original piece of work in which all five members were highlighted equally. With the second official release "Still At Arms Length", even greater things happened: the collaboration with a producer was a première and it seemed that Roberto Laghi at Oral Majority Recordings was just the man they needed to define their newer, more natural sound. The "Still At Arms Length" album is a darker creation than its predecessor, presenting a comfortable environment for promoting frustration, violent spins and pure misery. Simply put; one of the more emotional albums recorded in a very long time. Currently the band is enjoying the overwhelmingly good response from media all over while at the same time writing new material for a follow-up |
