BIOGRAPHY:

We're going to try to make this bio less torturous than most you receive. One page. Short and simple. For the people who don't know who Hirax is, welcome to the show. You're a little late though; the band started in the early eighties, went through a couple of line-up changes, finally settling with a definitive line-up in 1985. After playing the Los Angeles and Orange County club circuit and after traveling to areas like Arizona and San Francisco, the band built up an incredibly big following. Playing along the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Possessed, DRI, Megadeth, Venom, Exciter, COC, Dayglo Abortions, Reagan's Youth, Final Conflict, Excel, Dark Angel, Death Angel, Cryptic Slaughter, Dr Know, Testament and many, many, many more bands in the underground world. In the late eighties, Hirax disbanded and remained silent for over a decade until early 2000. Only after the band's vocalist Katon W. DePena had been overwhelmed by mail from all over the world did it become clear that Hirax had not been forgotten. In fact, the band is more popular now than ever. Hirax is known all over the world with records released in Malaysia, Indonesia, U.S.A., Japan, South America, Canada, South Africa, Australia and Europe and their huge fan base is very faithful. All Hirax records released on Metal Blade Records/Roadrunner Records are out of print. Very rare. So good luck finding them. To all the tape traders worldwide: thanks for keeping the spirit of Hirax alive! To all the fans worldwide: thanks for all the support! It's great to be back! In 2003 the band was invited to perform at the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany, playing along with Twisted Sister, Dio, Hammerfall, Masterplan and U.D.O. to name just a few. Hirax will return to Europe to promote their upcoming release starting from July 10th 2004…
